These three are no strangers to the music scene. Jean-Nicolas has figured on the Montreal jazz since 2000, receiving the Galaxy Rising Star award at the 2003 Ottawa Jazz Festival, and in 2005, was voted Discovery of the Year at the Off Festival of Jazz. His passion for composition and arrangement has also led him to work with such groups as Blok Note Big Band, Modern Time Big Band, Patrick Watson, DJ Champion, Ariane Moffat, and Amylie Boisclair. Other projects for Jean-Nicolas include: Jean-Nicolas Trottier Quartet, Jean-Nicolas Trottier Trio, Opus Lib brass quintet, Public Transport Project, Montréal Dixie, Montréal Jazz Big Band, Joe Sullivan Big Band, ID jazz quintet, Bernard Primeau Jazz Ensemble, Trombones Actions, Vic Vogel’s Jazz Big Band, Altsys Jazz Orchestra, Lorraine Desmarais Big Band and Alain Caron Big Band. As well, Rémi-Jean LeBlanc and Jean-Nicolas share a long history, having played together in Rémi-Jean’s project 7tet, while Rich Irwin and Jean-Nicolas shared musical endeavours in the Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra, Trombone Action. Together, they are an untethered, magical jazz machine!
