KENNEDY McLEOD QUINTET

The Kennedy McLeod Quintet is a modern Canadian jazz group co-led by saxophonist Donny Kennedy and pianist Jeff McLeod, whose recent album, Home Brew, was recorded in 2024 and showcases a contemporary sound rooted in tradition, featuring a blend of energetic, swing-infused playing reminiscent of the Jazz Messengers with original compositions. The quintet, which also includes Steve Kaldestad on tenor and alto saxophone, Pat Collins on bass, and Dave Laing on drums, explores diverse moods on the album, from upbeat, conversational tracks to more mellow jazz waltzes, all driven by infectious rhythm and skilled improvisation.
